I've Been Tagged!

Thanks, Emily!! I was tagged by Emily to write about Seven(7) Random Things that most people don't know about me. Here it goes...

1. I changed my handwriting in 7th grade. Yep! One of my good friends always made fun of it because my letters were so slanted. He would laugh and say that it looked as though someone blew over all the words, so I changed it! Since then, I've been told that I have very nice handwriting, so I guess I should say...Thanks, Walter Shepherd!!! 8)

2. A COW POOPED IN MY SQUARE!!;) A few years ago, some members of our high school softball team were raising money and hosted a cow pooping contest. They came around to all of the classrooms to sell tickets. I chuckled and bought one just for support. However, they called me the following Saturday to inform me that when they let the cow loose, he/she pooped in my square. (My number was 800 and something) I won $1,000!!!!

3. Little Miss Girly Girl....thought she was Evil Coneevil one day! I've never been very active when it comes to playing sports and being outdoors. When I met David, I started to enjoy huntin', fishin', ridin' four wheelers, and even attempting to throw/catch the football. All these things are great but I've learned (the hard way) that one must develop a healthy respect and fear for many outdoor sports. While driving the four wheeler one day, I took it upon myself to swerve back and forth on the dirt path and landed myself face to face with a TREE! I'll save all the detail, but THANKFULLY, I only walked away with a broken nose and a pretty bruised up leg! From now on, I'll be much more careful!!!! We will make sure our children grow up knowing the power that those things have and to use them properly (along with guns, bows, etc.)...and with extreme caution.

4. I swallowed my first pill when I was 18 years old in Italy!! Before then, my mom would mash it and mix it with a piece of bread. In Italy, I broke my toe and really needed some pain relief....I was desperate and took on the challenge! It still takes me a while to swallow them...I have to really concentrate and kick back my head.

5. You may not be able to tell by looking at me, but I am practically legally blind with vision of about 20/650!!! Sometimes I even forget until I remove my contacts/glasses. Maybe one day the Lord will bless us with the opportunity for laser surgery.

6. I HATE elbows!!!!! Yuck! Some of my friends tried to cure me in high school by having everyone put their elbow on me....it DIDN'T work!! I just don't like them (or mine) to touch me at all, but I'll just simply move another direction if one's around. (I guess I've gotten a little better throughout the years)

7. David and I LOVE The Office!!! That dry, everyday humor is my favorite!! If you were to take me to a comedy club where people are "trying" to make you laugh, it would be harder to get me to crack up. But....I literally am in tears over The Office!!

You cannot tell by the picture, but Conner had one paci in each hand in addition to the one clipped on his shirt. All he was concerned about was banging them on the crib and mattress. (maybe it won't be as hard as I thought to break our paci habit)

Conner's first SNOW!!

Okay, let me just tell you....I was acting like a five year old when I saw the snow this morning, but guess what!!!!???? By the time I got off the phone with my mom, fed Conner, and even thought about bundling up to go take pictures of us playing in the snow, it was gone!! Well, only remnants of icy puddles were left. At least Conner got to watch all the snow flurries fall, though he had no clue what it was or how excited we Mississippians get when snow comes our way. These are the only pictures I took.

This afternoon, while we were house hunting, we saw a snowman that someone had built. We'll just pretend it's ours! 8)

YAY for the weekend!!

Well, I made it through my first week back at school. This was the llllooonnngest Friday that I think I've ever experienced out of all my years of teaching. Partly due to the fact that I was ready for the THREE day weekend. I was also tired from having to get up so early again...plus, I just wasn't in the best mood today. Oh well, it's now officially the weekend. We don't have much planned, and that's fine with me!!;)

Sorry it's been so long since I've blogged...I've been a bad blogger!8(

My family was in town last week, and we've just been simply busy with life. Time is flying...our little man will be NINE months old soon!!!! I tried to catch up with some posts of things we've been up to lately.

Also, I started work this week and it's really going well. (Thank you for everyone who's had me in their prayers!) The class is so sweet and I'm practically picking up where I left off...same classroom, same teaching partner, same grade....just with another group of kids!!;) Surprisingly, it's even been more enjoyable than I expected. There's definitely a God-given passion within me to teach!! Conner is doing extremely well at Mrs. Sarah's and I know this is going to sound silly, but I think he's already grown up a little in the past two days. Sunday night was hard...I cried as I picked up his toys in the living room knowing that we weren't going to have our routine floor time the next day. There were a few more tears Monday morning, but I haven't shed one since. I must say...I'm VERY proud of myself!!;)

My old students from the last few years have been just precious!! They'll shout my name with excitement and run up to me to give me a hug. It touches me in a special way and reminds me of the many JOYS in being a teacher. Even these new little ones have already found their way to my heart!!!

We went over to Mammaw's after church on Sunday for lunch. Thank you, Mammaw....it was so good! (as always) 8)

Nonna & Poppy

My parents came in town to help my Grandma move and stayed ALL last week with us!!!;) Most of our time was spent helping Grandma sort through things that she was going to keep, pass down, give away, or simply throw out. However, we were still able to squeeze in some good family time....Aunt Meg's birthday at Bone Fish, visiting Mamie, and just hanging out with Conner Man! Conner and I even got to have our own special little adventure together that involved a tornado!! We got caught in the car in all that mess and had to find shelter in a bank. These sweet ladies took care of us and gave us a blanket to dry off with....I thought about taking their picture, so I guess we weren't in too much danger. It still gave me a scare though!
