2009!!!!
David and I had the best little getaway to the mountains. We ate at LOTS of restaurants, with the exception of David cooking his MARVELOUS steaks one night. That actually was my favorite meal...they're the BEST! :) We saw two movies - Marley and Me and Seven Pounds. Both are great movies. We shopped, played golf, and just enjoyed being together. No schedule. Period.
On New Year's Eve, we went to Gatlinburg to see the ball drop and watch the fireworks. It was crowded, COLD, but completely 100% FUN!!!
Conner Man may have had just as much fun if not, MORE!! He was such a good little boy for Mammaw & Pappaw. Every time we called, we could hear him playing in the background. David's mom got a kick at the fact that Conner would tell her when he wanted to take a nap...that's my boy. He also had some practice being a big brother with Devon around. :) Oh how I hope and pray baby #2 is this resilient and overall, easy. Although it was VERY weird not having him around and we missed him TONS, it's so good for David and I to get away by ourselves for a while. We're thinking we might alternate between our parents and do this more often. David's parents were thanking us for letting him stay with them, so maybe it's a treat for both sides. :)
This year we're going on SEVEN years together as husband and wife...whoa.
Taking a break from the llllooooonnnnnng ride home. Usually Conner's the best little traveling buddy, but this time he was ready to get out of his car seat from the START! Ahhhh, oh well, we survived. I think it may be time to invest in one of those traveling DVD sets with the screens that attach to the back of the seats. Yep. Anyway, we got home around 8:00PM on New Years Day.

Christmas Day 2008
I found this cute, "PLASTIC" tray and cup at Target for Santa's milk & cookies. I think he enjoyed them! Yum!! :)
Well, unfortunately, I don't have many pictures from Christmas morning, day, or even night. I got a terrible 24-hour bug and stayed in the bed ALL day. I couldn't even enjoy the Christmas dinner, and I missed out seeing some out of town family! Pooh! It ended up making its way around the family. Me- Momma- Alyssa- and eventually David on our traveling day to the mountains. Yuck. I'm just glad that Conner never got it.
Anyway, I love this picture...he's like, FINALLY I can open the presents!!
We made a mistake by letting him open his Lego's first. He didn't want anything to do with the rest of the presents. We eventually put them away so he could see the rest of his loot. :)
Conner got LOTS of toys from Nonna and Poppy and even a few from us. Santa filled his stocking with all kinds of goodies!! He was smart to fill it with things that we needed too like shampoo, butt-paste, and bubble bath. :)
One of Conner's big presents was a potty with an interactive book from ELMO...our favorite red, furry friend. I know, a potty? Trust me, I've received my share of looks and comments when I've let others in on our idea..even some fellow toddler-moms. We're not planning to potty train until maybe the summer, but I figure if we're gonna spend the money later on, why not go ahead and let it be one of his gifts for Christmas. It's not like he knows any different at this point. We also wrapped new suction bowls, plates, and big boy silverware and placed them under the tree too. He got a few toys (a BOSCH drill just like Daddy), but for the most part, practicality was Mommy and Daddy's theme this year. :) And....he loved every minute of it!!!!
Jesus is the reason for EVERY season, and HE is the greatest gift we could ever receive. I pray that you and your families had a wonderful CHRISTmas together!!
Christmas Eve
One of my favorite family traditions is when we get together for Christmas Eve. As a child, this night was truly magical, and it remains just as exciting as I grow older. There would be LOTS of food (wonderful snack type), family, friends, laughter, and at the end of the night, we would gather around the piano while my dad played just about every Christmas carol imaginable. For the past few years, we've alternating houses, and though the atmosphere has changed a bit and we've all gotten older and started our own families, it still has that magical feeling of being "Christmas Eve". I pray that we always continue traditions such as these along with many new ones.

I know I say this a lot on here, but I love and miss my sisters soooo much!! We've grown even closer these last few years, and I can truly say we're not only sisters, but friends too!! :)
