Happy Birthday, USA!!

On the 4th of July, we took it easy and invited a few friends over for hamburgers/hot dogs. Conner made (decorated) our "Happy Birthday USA" cupcakes and was pretty proud of his accomplishments...as was I. :) He actually helped me cook most of the food. It was a great family day that felt more like a Saturday with Daddy around....actually on Saturdays he's off doing side jobs and such, so July 4th, though a Monday, was extra special!! After our friends left, Mammaw Shirley & Anna Grace stopped by and then we all took naps to get ready for the fireworks show!! We always go to 49 in Richland by the trucking place...they always put on a good show, and this year we weren't let down!! :)

As you can see....there are BLUE skies in the background. Momma jumped the gun a little and had us all head out a bit prematurely. BUT we made good use of the time by eating Dairy Queen and just being together. The kids were troopers!

We just pulled off on the side of the road and watched from our car...may not sound like much fun, but we had comfy seats, air if we needed to turn it on, and musica!!! The boys got a kick out of their (short-lived) free reign within the car...

It was a great day!!! Ironically, Freedom is not FREE...but comes with a very high price. I pray many blessings on the men and women, as well as their families, who fight for this freedom everyday...on days that we just go about our "regular, comfortable" routines. Ultimately, our ETERNAL freedom was paid by JESUS....may we never forget the PRICE He paid for YOU and ME!!!
